Stomal Therapy

What does an appointment include?

  • Initial Assessment of the following:

    - Presenting concern from client (goals)

    - Medications

    - Allergies

    - Past medical history

    - Diet and fluid intake

    - Bowels or bladder pattern

    - Activities of daily living

    - Complete ostomy appliance bag change, assessment,

    and reapplication of appliance

    - Education

    - Recommendations

    - Assistance with ordering of new supplies (if applicable)

    - Report to GP (client consent)

  • Regular health checks

  • Ongoing monitoring:

    • Blood Pressure

    • Heart Rate

    • Respiratory Rate

    • Temperature

    • Oxygen Saturations

    • Pain

    • Blood Glucose Monitoring

    • Ketone Monitoring

    • Point of Care INR Monitoring

    • ABPI readings

    • Urinalysis

  • Must have a GP referrals to ensure clear parameters for clinical escalation and deterioration in consultation with GP.
